Job Description

A Patient Services Representative is the cornerstone of healthcare communication, acting as the primary point of contact between patients and healthcare facilities. This critical role involves managing patient interactions and ensuring a seamless experience from scheduling appointments to managing patient inquiries. The Patient Services Representative is responsible for maintaining patient records, handling billing inquiries, and providing information about treatments and procedures. Excellent communication skills, empathy, and a proactive attitude are essential as you'll be interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies regularly. In this role, you will play an integral part in enhancing the overall patient experience by ensuring efficient operation within the healthcare setting while adhering to policies and compliance standards.


Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner upon arrival.
  • Schedule patient appointments using the healthcare facility's scheduling system efficiently.
  • Collect and update patient personal and insurance information accurately into the database.
  • Assist patients with forms and documentations required for medical services.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing calls addressing patient inquiries and needs promptly.
  • Coordinate communication between patients, medical staff, and administrative departments.
  • Process billing and payment transactions, providing assistance as needed to patients.
  • Manage and direct patient inquiries to appropriate healthcare professionals or departments.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained in accordance with health regulation standards.
  • Update and maintain patient records and information with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Assist in resolving any patient complaints or issues with tact and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to continuously improve the patient experience.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably in healthcare.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-first approach.
  • Proficiency in using healthcare management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information confidentially and professionally.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and billing procedures is advantageous.
