Job Description

A Purchasing Associate plays a crucial role in the procurement and supply chain operations of an organization. This position involves assisting in buying goods and services essential for the company's operations and long-term sustainability. The Purchasing Associate works under the supervision of a Purchasing Manager and collaborates with different departments to ensure that supplies are sourced at competitive prices, without compromising on quality or delivery timelines. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills. The ideal candidate should be able to efficiently manage vendor relationships, process purchase orders, and maintain accurate records, contributing to the overall efficiency and performance of the purchasing department.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and processing of purchase orders and documents.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of purchased items.
  • Conduct market research to identify the most cost-effective purchasing strategies.
  • Maintain and update a comprehensive database of suppliers and purchase records.
  • Resolve issues or discrepancies related to purchased products or deliveries.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers for better pricing and delivery terms.
  • Work closely with the purchasing team to meet budgetary and suppliers' schedules.
  • Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Develop and maintain positive supplier relationships for long-term collaboration.
  • Assist in the preparation of purchasing reports and present findings to management.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures for procurement activities.
  • Support inventory management by maintaining records of purchasing activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Previous experience in a purchasing or procurement role is required.
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective negotiation and vendor management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing software applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records.
