Job Description

The role of an X-Ray Technician is crucial in the healthcare field, as it involves providing essential diagnostic imaging support to physicians and healthcare providers. As an X-Ray Technician, you will be responsible for operating radiologic equipment to produce high-quality x-ray images for diagnostic purposes. These images assist doctors in diagnosing patients and crafting appropriate treatment plans. The job duties are dynamic and require meticulous attention to detail, technical proficiency, and a solid understanding of radiologic safety protocols. X-Ray Technicians work closely with patients, providing them with guidance and reassurance during imaging procedures. This role demands strong communication skills, patience, and empathy to ensure patients feel comfortable and informed throughout the process.


Responsibilities

  • Operate x-ray equipment to capture diagnostic images of patients with precision.
  • Ensure the safety of patients by adhering to radiologic safety protocols consistently.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process and answering questions.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and document all imaging services performed.
  • Adjust and maintain radiologic equipment, ensuring it is in proper working order.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to evaluate images.
  • Ensure high-quality images by calibrating the x-ray equipment appropriately.
  • Provide compassionate patient care, ensuring their comfort throughout the procedure.
  • Follow physician instructions closely to produce images according to diagnostic needs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area within the imaging department.
  • Keep up-to-date with current radiologic technology advancements and practices.
  • Assist in educating and training new radiologic technologists and support staff.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or relevant field from an accredited institution.
  • Valid state radiology technologist license or certification, if applicable.
  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with radiologic technology and x-ray imaging equipment essential.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and protocols within radiologic practices.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with patients and teams.
  • Attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy of diagnostic images consistently.
  • Ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Capability to stand for long periods and lift or move patients as needed.
  • Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of patient information at all times.
