Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Receptionist to join our dynamic healthcare team. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a crucial role in providing excellent customer service by greeting patients, handling inquiries, and ensuring a smooth patient flow in a fast-paced medical environment. Your exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail will be essential in managing day-to-day operations including appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and maintaining accurate patient records. The ideal candidate will have a friendly demeanor, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask. Prior experience in a medical office is preferred but not required, as training will be provided for the right candidate.


Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors promptly with a warm and professional manner.
  • Manage and schedule patient appointments efficiently using electronic health records.
  • Answer phone calls, address inquiries, and redirect calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Verify patient insurance information and obtain necessary pre-authorizations.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations and policies.
  • Coordinate with medical staff to ensure timely patient flow and reduce wait times.
  • Maintain and update patient records accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Process patients' payments and manage billing inquiries effectively.
  • Ensure the reception area is tidy, welcoming, and well-stocked with necessary materials.
  • Assist with various administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and mail handling.
  • Collaborate with team members to uphold the highest level of patient care and service.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to improve service delivery.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required for this position.
  • Previous experience in a medical or clerical role is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records and scheduling software is desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are necessary for success.
  • Friendly and professional attitude with a focus on customer service excellence.
