Civil Draftsman (225-813)

A Civil Draftsman plays a crucial role in the construction industry by preparing detailed and precise technical drawings that guide the construction and engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle. They work closely with architects, engineers, and construction managers to translate complex design plans into clear and accurate technical drawings and blueprints. These drawings include specifications for construction, as well as detailed layouts and designs for structures such as buildings, roads, and bridges. A proficient Civil Draftsman must have a strong understanding of mathematics, engineering principles, and computer-aided design (CAD) software, alongside exceptional attention to detail and a knack for creative problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with engineers and architects to interpret project specifications and draft detailed technical drawings.
• Develop comprehensive civil engineering plans, including site layouts, grading, and drainage plans.
• Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to produce high-quality design drawings and blueprints.
• Ensure all technical drawings comply with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
• Review and revise drawings based on input from project managers and engineering teams.
• Maintain accurate records of drawings and project progress throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist in the preparation of project proposals and cost estimates by providing necessary technical drawings.
• Coordinate with construction teams to ensure designs are implemented accurately and effectively on-site.
• Conduct field visits to gather essential data and verify measurements for accurate drafting.
• Stay current with industry advancements and integrate new technologies into the drafting process.
• Ensure delivery of final drawings to stakeholders within the stipulated timelines and project schedules.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior draftsmen and other drafting team members.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or diploma in civil engineering, drafting, or a related field.
• Proven experience of at least 2 years in civil drafting or a similar role.
• Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, particularly AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and construction practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate and detailed drawings.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineers and construction teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
