Job Description

The Procurement Officer is essential in managing a company's acquisition of goods and services. As a part of the supply chain team, this role involves developing and implementing strategies to acquire the best quality goods and services at the most competitive prices. The Procurement Officer is responsible for overseeing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely delivery of products and services to support the business's operational needs. With a focus on cost efficiency and supply chain optimization, this position plays a critical role in ensuring that the company’s resources are utilized effectively. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional negotiation, analytical, and communication skills to foster collaborative working relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with company objectives.
  • Identify potential suppliers, conduct evaluations, and select the best options.
  • Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with suppliers to secure advantageous contracts.
  • Maintain and manage relationships with suppliers to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and product availability to maximize procurement efficiency.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to determine purchasing needs and specifications.
  • Manage procurement budgets and ensuring cost-effective purchasing decisions.
  • Conduct regular assessments of supplier performance and quality assurance standards.
  • Generate and maintain accurate procurement records and reports for management review.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, laws, and regulations at all times.
  • Handle any issues or discrepancies related to procurement transactions effectively.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to minimize supply chain disruptions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Procurement Officer or similar role in purchasing.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build relationships with vendors.
  • Excellent understanding of market dynamics, supply chain, and procurement best practices.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and systems for efficient processing.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
