Job Description

An X-Ray Technician, also known as a Radiologic Technologist, is a vital part of the healthcare team responsible for using X-ray equipment to capture images of patients' internal structures. These images assist doctors in diagnosing various medical conditions and determining appropriate treatments. X-Ray Technicians work in various settings, including hospitals, clinics, outpatient care centers, and specialized imaging facilities. With a focus on patient care, they operate complex machinery to produce high-quality diagnostic images while ensuring the safety and comfort of the patient. The role requires a blend of technical skill, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal communication as technicians often explain procedures and answer patient questions. Given the critical nature of the role, they must remain up-to-date with the latest radiologic technology and safety procedures.


Responsibilities

  • Operate X-ray equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images for medical evaluation.
  • Ensure radiation protection measures are followed to guarantee patient and staff safety.
  • Prepare patients for X-ray procedures by explaining the process and answering questions.
  • Maintain detailed records and update patient files with accurate imaging data.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and physicians to interpret X-ray results for accurate diagnosis.
  • Perform regular maintenance checks on X-ray machinery to ensure optimal performance.
  • Adhere to established protocols and regulations regarding X-ray imaging and patient care.
  • Assist in the transfer and positioning of patients to obtain the necessary diagnostic views.
  • Monitor equipment operation and report any malfunction to the appropriate department.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote patient safety and comfort.
  • Participate in continued education and training sessions to stay updated on best practices.
  • Manage the inventory of X-ray consumables and order supplies as necessary.

Requirements

  • Completed a state-approved Radiologic Technology program with relevant certifications.
  • Active state license or certification to practice as an X-Ray Technician.
  • Proficient in operating radiologic equipment and understanding X-ray protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills for patient interaction and team collaboration.
  • Strong attention to detail to maintain accurate records and high-quality images.
  • Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced, high-pressure healthcare environments.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and adhering to industry safety standards.
