Job Description

The Site HSE Officer plays a pivotal role in ensuring that health, safety, and environmental risks are proactively managed, reduced, and monitored at construction or operational sites. They are key to fostering a culture of safety by implementing and enforcing safety policies, conducting comprehensive risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with all pertinent regulations. The Site HSE Officer is responsible for keeping the workforce informed and trained on the latest health and safety protocols, thus minimizing the likelihood of incidents or accidents. Working collaboratively with site managers and workers, the Site HSE Officer is instrumental in driving continuous improvement in safety standards and practices on site.


Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific health, safety, and environmental programs.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and inspections to identify potential hazards on site.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate emergency response procedures and conduct regular drills for preparedness.
  • Investigate on-site incidents, accidents, and near misses and prepare detailed reports.
  • Organize and conduct health, safety, and environmental training sessions for staff.
  • Advise management on safety improvements and present actionable strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities and incidents on site.
  • Regularly review and update safety policies and protocols to reflect institutional changes.
  • Collaborate with site management to integrate safety practices into daily operations.
  • Facilitate safety committee meetings and foster worker participation in safety initiatives.
  • Liaise with external agencies and contractors to align safety practices with industry standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role within the industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective safety training delivery.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to manage site-specific safety challenges.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Certification in safety management systems (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is highly desirable.
