Job Description

As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will be a vital part of our pharmacy team, working alongside pharmacists to ensure the effective delivery of pharmaceutical care. Your role will involve providing exceptional service to patients, managing medication inventories, and performing administrative duties. You will assist with the preparation and dispensing of medications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations. Your responsibilities will also include maintaining clean and organized pharmacy spaces, supporting inventory management, and communicating with both healthcare professionals and customers to ensure that everyone receives the highest standard of care. You'll need to be detail-oriented, have good communication skills, and be committed to providing excellent customer service.


Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and handling inquiries.
  • Maintain an organized inventory system, including monitoring stock levels and expiration dates.
  • Ensure the pharmacy is clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
  • Process prescriptions electronically and ensure all patient information is accurate and confidential.
  • Assist in the labeling and packaging of prescription medications and over-the-counter products.
  • Support the pharmacy team in managing administrative duties and daily operations.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals to coordinate prescription refills and clarifications.
  • Operate cash registers, manage transactions, and handle insurance claims processing.
  • Help educate patients on the proper usage and potential side effects of medications.
  • Participate in pharmacy meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay updated on new pharmacy regulations and technologies by attending training sessions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Pharmacy Technician certification preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a pharmacy or healthcare setting is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with pharmacy software systems and tools.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with a high level of discretion and integrity.
