Job Description

The Service Advisor in the automotive industry is a pivotal role, serving as the crucial link between the automotive technician and the client. This position requires exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to ensure that customers are fully informed about the necessary services and repairs for their vehicles while building a trusting relationship. The Service Advisor must possess a thorough understanding of automotive systems and the ability to explain complex technical information in layman's terms. Working in a fast-paced environment, the service advisor has to balance the needs of both the customers and the mechanics, ensuring that service operations run smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities

  • Greet customers promptly and courteously, fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Assess vehicle issues and determine services and repairs required for customers.
  • Communicate effectively with the service department regarding customer vehicle needs.
  • Provide customers with accurate estimates of repair costs and timeframes.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of services and repairs performed.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by addressing any queries and concerns promptly.
  • Coordinate appointment scheduling and follow-ups for automotive services.
  • Liaise with automotive technicians to ensure timely completion of repairs.
  • Up-sell additional services and parts based on customer vehicle needs.
  • Manage the billing process and clarify charges to customers when needed.
  • Stay updated with the latest automotive products and service techniques.
  • Prepare and present reports on customer feedback and service trends to management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, associate degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in automotive service advising or related field desirable.
  • Strong understanding of automotive systems and repair processes necessary.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential for the role.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Competent in using computer systems, including proficiency in MS Office.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record mandatory for the position.
