Job Description

A Construction Manager is a pivotal role in overseeing, coordinating, and supervising construction projects from commencement to completion. This role involves planning, budgeting, and executing construction projects while ensuring compliance with safety codes and building regulations. The Construction Manager is responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget, while maintaining high standards of safety and quality. They work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to deliver well-executed construction projects. The ideal candidate is someone with a strong leadership ability, excellent problem-solving skills, and the capacity to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously. They should be adept at negotiation, strategic planning, and resource management, ensuring that all construction activities are performed efficiently, on schedule, and within the allocated budget.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines.
  • Review and interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications with a focus on detail and accuracy.
  • Coordinate and supervise construction workers and subcontractors involved in the project.
  • Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status and project milestones.
  • Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging issues effectively.
  • Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts, and obtain permits and licenses necessary for the project.
  • Analyze, manage, and mitigate risks to minimize impact and ensure project success.
  • Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques and materials.
  • Monitor daily construction activities and report potential issues or process improvements.
  • Manage budget and purchase equipment and materials to ensure project efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other construction specialists to optimize project performance.
  • Comply with legal requirements, building and safety codes, and other regulations throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven working experience in construction management or a similar managerial role.
  • Excellent knowledge of construction management processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Ability to plan and see the big picture without losing attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with construction and project management software applications.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills with a proactive approach.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for interacting with stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and successfully.
  • In-depth understanding of safety and regulatory compliance in construction.
