Job Description

A Logistics Officer plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing the operations and strategic planning of logistics and supply chain operations within an organization. This position is primarily responsible for ensuring that the supply chain meets business needs by coordinating the dispatch and movement of goods from suppliers to customers efficiently. As a Logistics Officer, you will be expected to contribute to planning, implementing, and overseeing logistics strategies, improve operational efficiency, and resolve any logistical challenges that may arise. The role requires strong organizational skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Working closely with various departments, including procurement and inventory management, a Logistics Officer ensures that the departments are aligned to meet overall business objectives and deliver desired outcomes.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor supply chain operations to ensure timely transportation of goods.
  • Develop and maintain logistics strategies that optimize cost efficiency and service delivery.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturers, and other departments to meet logistical demands.
  • Manage and supervise logistics personnel to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Prepare and review logistics reports, budgets, and forecasts for accurate data analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international laws and customs regulations.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and develop contingency plans for potential disruptions.
  • Identify and implement new technologies that improve supply chain and logistics processes.
  • Negotiate contracts and rates with transportation and freight forwarding services.
  • Oversee inventory management processes to maintain optimal stock levels and reduce shortages.
  • Resolve any issues pertaining to product transportation and logistics delays promptly.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with stakeholders to enhance collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field required.
  • Proven experience as a Logistics Officer or in a related logistics role.
  • Strong knowledge of logistics, inventory management, and supply chain processes.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret logistics data effectively.
  • Proficient in logistical software and tools, such as ERP systems or TMS.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills to liaise with stakeholders.
  • Capability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines efficiently.
