Your Day to Day

As Commis I – Pastry, you will support the Pastry Chef in preparing high-quality desserts, pastries, and baked goods while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, presentation, and consistency.

Some of your main role responsibilities are:

• Assist in the preparation and production of pastries, desserts, and bakery items according to recipes and standards.
• Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and quality across all pastry products.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the pastry section in compliance with HACCP and food safety standards.
• Assist in inventory control, stock rotation, and minimizing food wastage.
• Work closely with the Pastry Chef and team to contribute ideas for new menu items and seasonal specials.
• Ensure equipment and utensils are properly handled and maintained.
• Support colleagues and maintain a positive and professional kitchen environment.
  
  

Ideally, youll have some or all of the following competencies and experience were looking for:

• Completion of a degree or certificate in culinary arts
• Previous experience as Commis I / Commis II in pastry (hotel or upscale bakery experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of basic pastry techniques, baking methods, and dessert preparation.
• Creativity and passion for pastry arts.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Team player with strong communication and organizational skills.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
