Job Description

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in managing, overseeing, and delivering cost-effective building projects from inception to completion. You are expected to perform risk management, ensuring that all expenditures align with the agreed budget, providing a comprehensive cost analysis, and advising on procurement strategies. With your expertise, you will ensure the financial stability, safety, and compliance of construction projects while maintaining a clear communication channel with clients, contractors, and team members. Your ability to assess changes, draw up financial reports, and negotiate terms and conditions will contribute significantly to the successful delivery of multi-million dollar construction projects.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects with precision.
  • Manage all financial aspects of construction projects to ensure budget compliance.
  • Oversee the tendering process including tender analysis and procurement strategies.
  • Conduct risk and value management during project execution phases to maintain quality.
  • Monitor project progress and produce detailed progress reports to stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and financial regulations in construction.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to secure cost-efficient services.
  • Provide contractual advice and support throughout the project lifecycle as needed.
  • Organize and manage regular site visits to verify progress and resolve issues swiftly.
  • Assess, value variations, and administer valuations for interim payments effectively.
  • Prepare and manage final accounts including the assessment of contractor claims.
  • Mentor junior surveyors, providing feedback and guidance to enhance their skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Proven experience in quantity surveying and construction project management, minimum 8 years.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of contract law, procurement strategies, and financial regulations.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills with a track record of successful contract management.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail to identify potential cost savings.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools such as Microsoft Excel and project management software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork and stakeholder management.
