Senior Animator

A senior animator is sought to bring to life a short animated project that will serve as a proof of concept for potential larger-scale development. This personal project draws inspiration from atmospheric and stylistic works such as The Black Cauldron, Ghost in the Shell, and Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade. The short will establish the project’s visual tone, narrative intensity, and overall artistic direction, with the opportunity for continued collaboration depending on the reception. The role requires a highly skilled animator with a strong sense of mood, cinematic storytelling, and experience in creating high-quality animation sequences for narrative-driven content.

Responsibilities

• Develop a high-quality animated short that reflects the project’s dark, atmospheric, and cinematic tone.
• Translate creative direction and references into polished animation sequences that capture the essence of the story.
• Collaborate on defining the visual identity and style, ensuring consistency with inspirations from The Black Cauldron, Ghost in the Shell, and Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade.
• Handle key animation tasks, including character performance, action, and environmental movement.
• Provide revisions based on feedback to align with the project’s vision and aesthetic.

Skills and Requirements

• Proven experience as a senior animator in film, series, or high-level independent projects.
• Strong portfolio showcasing narrative-driven animation with a dark or atmospheric style.
• Mastery of 2D or 3D animation tools such as Toon Boom Harmony, TVPaint, After Effects, Blender, or Maya.
• Ability to handle both character and environmental animation with cinematic flair.
• Deep understanding of storytelling, timing, and emotional impact in animation.
• Familiarity with styles influenced by anime and dark fantasy is highly desirable.
