Job Description
The School Counselor is responsible for providing academic, career, and personal counseling services to students. This includes assisting students with course selection, college and career planning, and addressing personal and social issues. The School Counselor will also collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to support student success and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling to address students' academic and career goals.
- Assist students with course selection and registration.
- Develop and implement college and career exploration programs.
- Address students' personal and social issues, such as bullying and peer pressure.
- Collaborate with teachers to support student learning and achievement.
- Communicate with parents to address students' needs and concerns.
- Observe and assess students' behavior and emotional well-being.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
Requirements
- Master's degree in counseling or a related field.
- State certification or licensure as a school counselor.
- Knowledge of academic and career counseling strategies and resources.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
