Job Description

A Sales Engineer is a crucial link between the technical aspects of a product or service and the potential customers, bridging the gap with their expertise in both salesmanship and technical knowledge. They are responsible for presenting and explaining the company's products and services in a compelling manner to drive sales and meet customer needs. Working closely with the sales team, clients, and company departments, a Sales Engineer must have a deep understanding of the product functionalities and the ability to convey technical details to a non-technical audience. Success in this role hinges on one's ability to build strong relationships, understand customer requirements, and deliver solutions that are technically sound and feasible. Sales Engineers are often involved in the design, installation, and maintenance process, which requires them to work collaboratively with engineering and customer service teams to ensure customer satisfaction from pre-sale to post-installation.


Responsibilities

  • Identify and understand customer needs to provide accurate technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop effective sales strategies and proposals.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and presentations to prospective customers.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations explaining products or services to customers and prospective customers.
  • Convey technical information clearly to a non-technical audience.
  • Provide technical support to clients before and after the sale process.
  • Assist in researching and developing new market opportunities and strategies.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to customize products for specific customer needs.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new technologies, and product developments.
  • Provide feedback to product development teams regarding customer needs and competitive insights.
  • Manage customer relationships to ensure long-term satisfaction and continued partnerships.
  • Participate in industry conferences and networking events to promote products and services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven sales experience, ideally in a technical field, is required.
  • Strong understanding of technical concepts and the ability to explain them.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage a diverse audience.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and establish trust with clients.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary to meet with clients and prospects.
