Job Description

A Room Service Supervisor is a hospitality role responsible for overseeing and coordinating the room service operations in a hotel or hospitality establishment. This role involves managing a team of servers, ensuring prompt and quality food and beverage delivery to guest rooms, and maintaining high standards of service.


Responsibilities:


  • Supervise, train, and manage the room service team, including servers, runners, and order takers.
  • Assign duties, manage schedules, and ensure staff adherence to service standards.
  • Receive and process guest orders for food and beverages through phone calls, online platforms, or in-person requests.
  • Coordinate with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure accurate and timely order preparation.
  • Ensure that guests receive exceptional service by maintaining a friendly and attentive demeanor and addressing any concerns promptly.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups with guests to ensure satisfaction with their dining experience.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the menu offerings, including food and beverage options, special requests, dietary restrictions, and allergens.
  • Assist guests in making menu selections and provide recommendations.
  • Monitor the presentation, quality, and temperature of food and beverages before delivery to guest rooms.
  • Ensure that orders are accurately fulfilled and meet guest expectations.
  • Coordinate with the kitchen and service staff to ensure that orders are prepared and delivered to guest rooms promptly.
  • Monitor delivery times and address any delays.
  • Keep track of inventory levels for room service items and supplies.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen and purchasing teams to ensure sufficient stock is available.
  • Prepare accurate bills for guest orders, including items and charges.
  • Process payments and ensure accuracy in billing transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in food handling, sanitation, and cleanliness.
  • Conduct regular inspections to maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Generate reports on room service performance, including sales, guest feedback, and service issues.
  • Provide insights to management on areas for improvement and operational efficiency.

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Hospitality or food service certifications are a plus.
  • Proven experience (typically 2-4 years) in food and beverage service, with prior supervisory experience.
  • Strong customer service skills and a genuine passion for providing exceptional guest experiences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage offerings, menu items, and preparation methods.
  • Organizational skills to manage staff schedules, orders, and guest requests.
  • Ability to handle cash transactions and process payments accurately.
  • Attention to detail in order processing and quality control.
  • Leadership abilities to motivate and manage a team.
  • Adaptability to working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
