Job Description

As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will be an essential part of the pharmacy team, providing support to pharmacists and contributing to the smooth operation of the pharmacy. You will assist in dispensing prescription medication, maintaining a meticulous inventory of pharmaceutical supplies, and offering informative assistance to pharmacy customers. Your role will require a keen attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a customer-friendly attitude. You'll be responsible for ensuring that the pharmacy is a welcoming and efficient environment for all customers, helping them to navigate healthcare information and access the necessary medical products. The role is ideal for someone passionate about healthcare and eager to make a difference in patient wellness and satisfaction.


Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in delivering healthcare services such as filling prescriptions accurately.
  • Interact with customers to provide information and resolve complaints effectively.
  • Maintain and update patient records adhering to privacy regulations and protocols.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and verifying deliveries for correctness.
  • Label medications with proper instructions and warnings for easier patient understanding.
  • Prepare medications under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Operate cash register, handle cash transactions and manage customer inquiries confidently.
  • Restock shelves and store medication following established safety protocols.
  • Support the pharmacists by keeping the pharmacy area clean and organized daily.
  • Educate patients on over-the-counter medications and their appropriate usage.
  • Support health screenings and vaccination events as directed by pharmacy supervisors.
  • Comply with all state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations consistently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification is required.
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy or retail setting is advantageous.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with customers and team members.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in processing prescriptions and information.
  • Basic math skills for inventory management and handling transactions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure.
