An Operating Theatre Nurse plays a critical role in the surgical team, providing care to patients before, during, and after surgery. Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons and other medical staff during the surgical procedures with precision.
• Prepare the operating room and ensure all equipment is sterilized and functioning.
• Closely monitor the patient’s vital signs throughout the surgery to detect anomalies.
• Maintain strict adherence to hygiene and infection control guidelines in the theatre.
• Prepare patients for surgery and provide post-operative care in recovery rooms.
• Coordinate with the surgical team to ensure all necessary surgical supplies are present.
• Document all relevant information regarding the operation in the patient's records.
• Provide emotional support and information to patients and their families pre- and post-surgery.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to develop and implement care plans for patients.
• Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to stay current with best practices.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the operating theatre environment.
• Assist in the safe transportation and positioning of patients before and after surgery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and valid state nursing license required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in operating room nursing preferred.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and pre/post-operative care protocols.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining sterile environments in operating theatres.
• Proficiency in handling surgical instruments and operating room technology and equipment.
