Job Description

Occupational Therapist will have to  work with individuals of all ages to help them develop, recover, or maintain the skills necessary for daily living and working. OTs focus on improving a person's ability to perform essential tasks and activities by addressing physical, cognitive, emotional, and environmental factors.


Responsibilities:


  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine a client's physical, cognitive, emotional, and environmental challenges.
  • Evaluate a client's functional abilities and limitations.
  • Early Intervention, Developmental Delays and Autistic Spectrum Disorder
  • Visual/auditory impairment, genetic syndromes (Trisomy 9, Trisomy 21, Pradder Willi Syndrome, neuropathologies (cerebral palsy, dyspraxia)
  • Fine motor and gross motor skills
  • Sensory integration difficulties
  • Learning difficulties
  • School readiness skills and classroom adaptation
  • Conduct comprehensive specialist occupational and early intervention assessments
  • Analyze, write reports, communicate assessment results and therapy progress to parents, teachers
  • Manage a caseload of clients with highly complex needs, using evidence-based clinical reasoning to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
  • Work with clients to identify Occupational Therapy goals as part of an overall care plan.
  • Participate in team meetings and work closely with other specialists’ meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.
  • Provide specialist OT advice within the interdisciplinary and interagency teams and to co-ordinate multidisciplinary procedures when required within service.
  • Provide support and advice to families.
  • Demonstrate advanced level skills in group facilitation and the use of creative therapeutic interventions.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Professional/Board Certifications as applicable
  • DHA License or meets licensure requirements 
  • Clinical experience through internships or supervised practice.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Compassion and patience when working with individuals who may have physical, mental, or emotional challenges.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving abilities to customize therapy to individual needs.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to demonstrate and assist with therapy activities.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards in healthcare.
