Job Description

A Ministry of Health (MOH) Pharmacist plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by ensuring the safe and effective use of medication. This position is central to public health and entails a responsibility for overseeing the distribution, management, and quality assurance of pharmaceutical supplies within healthcare facilities. As a MOH Pharmacist, you will be tasked with supporting clinical and operational pharmacy services, providing pharmaceutical care to patients, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to optimize medication therapy outcomes. Working under the guidance of governmental healthcare policies, you will be expected to maintain high standards of practice, engage in health promotion, and demonstrate leadership in pharmaceutical care. The role may also involve conducting training sessions for pharmacy staff and contributing to the development of national pharmaceutical policies and strategies.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee the procurement and distribution of medications to healthcare facilities and patients.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international pharmaceutical regulations and standards.
  • Conduct medication use evaluations to optimize therapeutic outcomes for patients.
  • Coordinate with healthcare professionals to review and manage patient medication plans.
  • Monitor adverse drug reactions and implement reporting procedures to ensure patient safety.
  • Provide professional guidance and training to pharmacy staff and interns.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of national healthcare policies and strategies.
  • Maintain and update pharmaceutical records to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Engage in community health promotion activities to enhance public understanding of medication use.
  • Participate in clinical audits to improve the quality of pharmaceutical care services.
  • Collaborate with governmental agencies to manage pharmaceutical supply chains effectively.
  • Implement procedures for the disposal of expired and unused medications safely and ethically.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from a recognized and accredited institution.
  • Current registration and licensure as a pharmacist with the relevant health authority.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a hospital or community pharmacy setting.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulations, guidelines, and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex clinical data effectively and accurately.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in supervising pharmacy operations.
