MEP Estimator (225-812)

An MEP Estimator plays a critical role in the construction industry by analyzing and estimating the costs associated with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) components of building projects. This position requires expertise in project assessment, keen analytical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with project stakeholders. Responsibilities

• Analyze project plans and specifications to identify MEP requirements and prepare cost estimates.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project scope and client expectations.
• Conduct site visits to gather information and verify project details on MEP systems.
• Research historical data and develop cost databases for accurate cost forecasting.
• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and construction cost estimates for MEP systems.
• Review and compare vendor quotes to ensure competitive and accurate pricing for materials.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to negotiate terms and conditions for MEP systems.
• Present and explain detailed MEP cost estimates to clients and stakeholders as needed.
• Monitor industry trends and advancements in MEP technology to optimize estimation processes.
• Maintain and update cost estimation software and tools for improved accuracy and efficiency.
• Assist in the preparation of tender bid submissions relevant to MEP works in projects.
• Ensure all MEP estimates comply with local building codes and safety regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related field required.
• Proven experience in cost estimating for MEP systems within the construction industry.
• Strong proficiency in estimation software, such as AutoCAD, PlanSwift, or equivalent tools.
• Excellent analytical skills with an ability to interpret detailed construction plans and specifications.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients, contractors, and team members.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet tight deadlines efficiently.
• Detailed understanding of building codes and regulations applicable to MEP construction.
