Job Description

The role of a Logistics Assistant is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of an organization's supply chain. As a Logistics Assistant, you will be responsible for streamlining the movement and storage of goods, maintaining an accurate logistics database, and coordinating with suppliers, transportation providers, and customers to ensure efficient delivery timelines. You will be tasked with managing inventory, processing documentation, and helping to optimize logistical activities to reduce costs and improve service quality. Your role will require strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail, as you will often work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks simultaneously. A successful Logistics Assistant is proactive, skilled in various logistics software, and possesses a keen understanding of logistics management principles.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee daily logistics activities and operations efficiently.
  • Assist in tracking shipments to ensure timely delivery and distribution of goods.
  • Maintain and update logistics databases with accurate shipment and inventory information.
  • Communicate with suppliers and transport companies to negotiate shipment terms.
  • Review and process shipping documents including invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure stocks are accurate and well-organized.
  • Implement best practices in logistics operations to maximize cost efficiency.
  • Coordinate logistics activities with other departments to meet company objectives.
  • Identify potential risks in the logistics chain and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Assist in resolving any issues related to damaged or missing goods in transit.
  • Prepare regular reports on logistics performance and suggest improvements as needed.
  • Support the logistics team in implementing new supply chain management strategies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in logistics is preferred.
  • Proven experience working in logistics, supply chain, or related field.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Knowledge of logistics and supply chain management principles is essential.
