Job Description

An IT Support Engineer is a crucial part of the technology team, responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of various technological systems within an organization. This role demands an individual who is not only technically proficient but also possesses excellent problem-solving skills and a strong ability to communicate effectively with non-technical staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT support and maintenance, providing technical assistance to employees, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring the optimal performance of the IT infrastructure. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining the organization's computer systems and networks, which involves installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults, and solving technical and application problems, either over the phone or in person. An inquisitive mind, along with a passion for technology and commitment to improving the end-user experience, are essential attributes to succeed in this role.


Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level support for IT-related issues and queries that arise.
  • Install and configure computer systems, peripherals, and software applications.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software faults efficiently.
  • Support and maintain networking equipment, including switches and routers.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights to organization resources.
  • Ensure security best practices are followed and implement new security measures.
  • Document procedures, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions for future reference.
  • Collaborate with other IT staff to execute larger scale IT projects and upgrades.
  • Set up workstations and ensure they are connected to network and operating properly.
  • Monitor IT system performance to ensure operations run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Train and support employees on usage of new equipment and software applications.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and advancements in IT support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience in IT support or a similar technical support role.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and strong attention to detail required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for assisting non-technical users.
  • Familiarity with a variety of operating systems and software, including Windows and MacOS.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP configurations.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple support requests efficiently.
