The role of the IT Strategy and Planning Manager is to lead strategic and business planning processes, organise cross-functional strategic initiatives, and ensure robust alignment between IT objectives and business goals. You will provide leadership and direction to teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and capability development across functions. You will facilitate prioritisation, actionable planning, effective governance frameworks, strategic boards coordination, and performance management to deliver measurable value and improvements. This role is part of the Governance and Planning Function in Group IT, reporting into Senior Manager – IT Planning and Improvements, which oversees IT strategy and business planning and improvements, manpower planning, knowledge and change management, and integrates tooling metrics to align teams and enhance performance analytics.

In This Role, You Will

  • Lead IT strategic planning and improvement processes by identifying priority initiatives and aligning actionable roadmaps through structured reviews across the IT organisation.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership and capacity planning teams to forecast workforce needs and align capability and capacity with strategic goals.
  • Develop and implement strategic governance frameworks and continuous improvement policies, facilitate governance boards, and empower teams to adopt best practices, drive change, and build governance capability.
  • Conduct strategic analysis and monitor industry trends to integrate relevant insights into strategic planning, ensuring responsiveness to change and delivery of measurable business value.
  • Monitor performance frameworks and dashboards, collaborate on metrics and reporting, and implement communication strategies to promote leadership alignment, stakeholder engagement, and accountability for outcomes.

Qualification

To be considered for the role you must meet the below requirements:

  • Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in Information Technology or other related fields. Postgraduate qualifications (i.e., MBA) preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in strategic planning, performance management, or IT governance frameworks (i.e., COBIT, ITIL, Balanced Scorecard, OKR, Strategic Management) are strongly preferred.
  • 8 years Information Technology, business planning and improvement experience.
  • Experience in IT strategic planning, governance, performance management, and stakeholder engagement, demonstrating a successful track record in managing strategic projects in complex, multicultural, cross-functional environments.
  • Experience working collaboratively with diverse IT and business teams to foster trust, agility, and alignment.
  • High level of command in strategic planning, governance, data-driven business performance, and programme/project management methodologies and frameworks.
  • High level of mastery of innovation techniques to drive improvements.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, and business and financial acumen.
  • Results-oriented mindset with strong stakeholder management, coaching, and mentoring abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to present ideas, facilitate discussions, and influence decisions at all business levels.
  • Resilient and adaptable, capable of leading effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
  • Understanding of key business concepts and dependencies, ideally including familiarity with business intelligence, analytics, and related technologies.
