Job Description

The Infection Controller plays a critical role in healthcare settings by maintaining and implementing infection prevention and control measures. This position is vital in ensuring the safety of both patients and healthcare workers by preventing the spread of infectious diseases. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of microbiology and public health protocols to effectively analyze, assess, and mitigate risks associated with infections. The role demands a proactive individual with excellent communication and training skills to educate staff and visitors on best practices for infection control. A successful Infection Controller will be detail-oriented, collaborative, and capable of adapting to evolving public health guidelines.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive infection prevention and control strategies daily.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential sources of infection outbreaks.
  • Collaborate with healthcare staff to promote adherence to infection control policies.
  • Monitor sterile procedures and ensure compliance with industry hygiene standards.
  • Lead and coordinate infection prevention education sessions for healthcare teams.
  • Review and analyze infection data to identify trends and recommend interventions.
  • Ensure compliance with governmental and organizational infection control regulations.
  • Investigate infection incidents and create detailed reports with actionable insights.
  • Coordinate with departments to manage supplies for effective infection control solutions.
  • Provide consultative services to facility management on infection control protocols.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all infection control activities and outcomes.
  • Continuously update personal knowledge of infectious diseases and control measures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Microbiology, or a related healthcare field required.
  • Certifications in Infection Control (CIC) are highly desirable for this role.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a healthcare infection prevention setting.
  • Strong knowledge of public health practices and infection control protocols.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the capability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary medical teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to solving health and safety issues.
