Job Description

As an Infection Controller, your primary role is to ensure the highest standards of infection prevention and control practices within healthcare facilities and other relevant environments. You will be responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of infection control policies and procedures. Your role is essential in preventing the spread of infectious diseases, safeguarding the health and well-being of patients, staff, and visitors. It requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. Successful Infection Controllers are proactive problem-solvers who stay updated with the latest infection control guidelines and technologies. The position is critical to maintaining a safe healthcare environment and requires a professional who is diligent and committed to excellence in public health.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive infection control policies and procedures for the facility.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential infection hazards.
  • Provide training and education to staff on infection prevention and control practices.
  • Monitor compliance with infection control policies and report non-compliance issues.
  • Collaborate with public health authorities on infection control matters and disease surveillance.
  • Oversee the investigation and management of infection outbreaks within the facility.
  • Analyze data to track infection rates and implement improvement measures accordingly.
  • Coordinate with laboratory teams to ensure timely and accurate infection reporting.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of infection control standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Advise on the procurement and use of personal protective equipment and hygiene supplies.
  • Ensure effective communication of infection risks and control policies to all stakeholders.
  • Participate in continuous professional development to enhance expertise in infection control.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, microbiology, public health, or a related field.
  • Certification in infection control (CIC) or equivalent qualification is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in an infection prevention and control role.
  • Strong knowledge of infection control standards, guidelines, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail when assessing infection risks.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective infection control strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for staff training and collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions in high-pressure environments.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools and infection control reporting software.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated on industry trends.
