Job Description

A CT/MRI Technologist is a key member of the healthcare diagnostic team, responsible for operating sophisticated imaging equipment to perform diagnostic exams for patients. This role involves working closely with radiologists to determine the most appropriate imaging techniques and follow best practices to ensure patient safety and comfort. The CT/MRI Technologist must possess a comprehensive understanding of cross-sectional anatomy, the operational intricacies of CT and MRI equipment, and should be capable of accurately interpreting physician instructions to produce high-quality diagnostic images. The role calls for a caring and empathetic approach as technologists often work directly with patients, sometimes under stressful or critical circumstances. Strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment are key attributes needed for this role, ensuring patients receive prompt and precise diagnostic feedback.


Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality CT and MRI examinations as requested by physicians following established protocols.
  • Ensure proper patient positioning and equipment settings to achieve accurate diagnostic images.
  • Prepare and administer contrast agents necessary for certain imaging procedures as required.
  • Maintain accurate patient records including history, imaging results, and any administered medications.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to evaluate the realistic diagnostic needs of each patient.
  • Maintain equipment in good working condition and report any issues or malfunctions promptly to the appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure that all imaging activities comply with state, federal, and institutional policies and safety regulations.
  • Provide compassionate care and support to patients, ensuring their safety and comfort during imaging procedures.
  • Educate patients on the imaging process, addressing any concerns to foster a calm environment.
  • Assist in the training and onboarding of new technologists or student trainees as part of professional development.
  • Adopt and implement new imaging techniques, staying informed about advancements in the imaging technology field.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks routinely to ensure optimal performance of diagnostic equipment.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Radiologic Technology or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a technologist in a clinical setting preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of cross-sectional human anatomy and radiological disease processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients and staff.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and sound judgement under pressure.
