Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Indian/Chinese Chef to join our culinary team at our prestigious restaurant. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating authentic Indian and Chinese dishes that are both visually pleasing and delicious. The Indian/Chinese Chef will bring creativity, expertise, and consistency to our kitchen, contributing to the overall dining experience with their culinary skills. This role requires a deep understanding of Indian and Chinese cuisines, including traditional cooking techniques, cultural dishes, and the intricate balance of spices and flavors that characterize these rich culinary traditions. The right candidate will have a commitment to quality, a keen eye for detail, and a desire to continually improve and innovate within the kitchen environment.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present authentic Indian and Chinese dishes to a high standard.
  • Plan and design menu items that reflect traditional and contemporary styles.
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared according to restaurant standards and recipes.
  • Oversee kitchen operations during service, maintaining efficiency and quality control.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise junior kitchen staff and apprentices.
  • Maintain inventory and oversee the ordering of ingredients and kitchen supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen.
  • Collaborate with management to develop promotions and new menu items.
  • Create and implement food cost controls to maintain budgetary targets.
  • Adapt recipes to accommodate guests' dietary requirements and allergies.
  • Stay updated on culinary trends and integrate them into the menu offerings.
  • Regularly review and improve food presentation and kitchen practices.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a chef specializing in Indian and Chinese cuisines.
  • In-depth knowledge of various Indian and Chinese regional cooking traditions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills for effective team management.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification in Asian culinary arts is preferred.
  • Ability to develop unique recipes and adapt them based on customer feedback.
