Job Description

An HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Engineer is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe workplace environment by developing and implementing health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures. This role involves working closely with project managers, employees, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. The HSE Engineer plays a critical role in identifying potential hazards, conducting risk assessments, and providing training to employees on safety practices. Through meticulous monitoring and reporting, the HSE Engineer ensures that all safety protocols are followed and that the organization remains proactive in preventing accidents and minimizing environmental impact. This position requires a strong understanding of safety legislation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence and promote a culture of safety within the organization.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards.
  • Perform risk assessments and propose appropriate risk mitigation measures.
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international safety regulations and standards.
  • Coordinate with project managers to integrate safety measures into project planning.
  • Deliver training sessions on safety practices and emergency procedures to employees.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents to determine causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation on safety performance and compliance.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to enhance workplace safety culture.
  • Monitor environmental conditions and ensure the organization minimizes its environmental impact.
  • Lead safety meetings and communicate key safety information and updates regularly.
  • Develop emergency response plans and coordinate drills to test their effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Safety, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in HSE engineering or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of local, national, and international HSE regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively promote safety culture.
  • Experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Ability to develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs to diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in using safety and risk management software tools and applications.
