As a Health and Safety Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all employees within the organization. Your main goal will be to implement and oversee organizational safety standards, mitigate potential health risks, and promote a culture of safety and compliance. You will be responsible for performing risk assessments, developing safety programs, and ensuring adherence to legislative requirements. Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections to identify hazards and implement corrective measures promptly.
• Develop comprehensive safety policies and procedures in line with industry standards.
• Perform risk assessments and ensure compliance with occupational safety regulations.
• Organize and conduct training sessions on health and safety protocols for staff.
• Investigate incidents and accidents to determine causes and recommend preventive measures.
• Maintain accurate records of workplace injuries, incidents, and health surveillance.
• Collaborate with management to integrate safety objectives into business operations.
• Ensure all safety equipment and systems are maintained and functioning effectively.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management on safety performance.
• Stay updated on new legislation and best practices related to occupational health and safety.
• Develop emergency response plans and ensure staff are well-versed in procedures.
• Communicate effectively with government and regulatory bodies during safety audits or inspections.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental health, or a related field.
• Certification in health and safety management, such as NEBOSH or IOSH, is preferred.
• Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer in a similar industry setting.
• Strong understanding of legal health and safety guidelines and practices.
• Excellent communication skills for effective training and incident reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to identify risk factors and develop risk mitigation strategies.
• Proficient in using relevant computer software for documentation and reporting.
