Job Description

The Finance Assistant plays a crucial role within the finance department of an organization by ensuring the smooth operation of all finance matters. They are responsible for monitoring and managing the organization's accounts, making sure that records are accurate and up-to-date. This role requires a keen attention to detail, as the Finance Assistant must ensure all financial records comply with statutory requirements and international accounting standards. They work collaboratively with other team members to support the financial goals of the company and may also be tasked with assisting in budget preparation and reporting. The Finance Assistant often acts as a liaison between different departments, making excellent communication skills essential. Their contributions support the financial stability and profitability of the organization.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and management of financial documents and reports.
  • Maintain accurate and updated financial records and transactions in the system.
  • Process invoices, ensure proper documentation and handle bill payments accordingly.
  • Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies in financial data.
  • Assist in budget preparation and monitor organizational expenses and cash flow.
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
  • Support month-end and year-end financial closing processes and audits.
  • Review and process reimbursements, ensuring adherence to policy guidelines.
  • Help in managing accounts payable and receivable functions effectively.
  • Provide administrative support such as filing, photocopying, and data entry when needed.
  • Participate in financial meetings and provide insights as required by supervisors.
  • Update and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required.
  • Proven experience in a similar financial or accounting assistant role is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills are essential.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality is crucial.
