Job Description

The Desktop Support Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring that all computer systems and desktop hardware of an organization are running smoothly and efficiently. This position is pivotal for maintaining business operations by minimizing downtime, addressing technical issues swiftly, and ensuring users have a seamless experience with their desktop environments. Desktop Support Engineers are responsible for troubleshooting technical issues, performing system updates, and supporting end-users across diverse departments. Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for desktop-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop software and hardware systems with precision.
  • Assist in inventory management by tracking desktop hardware components and peripherals.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of desktop configurations and support procedures.
  • Resolve network connectivity issues impacting desktop computers promptly and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to deploy patches and software updates routinely.
  • Conduct regular assessments to ensure alignment with IT compliance and security standards.
  • Provide training and support to end-users to enhance their technical skills and efficiency.
  • Support and maintain operating systems, including Windows and MacOS environments.
  • Assist in setting up new workstations, ensuring optimal setup and functionality.
  • Identify and escalate hardware or software issues that require higher-level IT support.
  • Ensure data backup processes are adhered to and critical systems are recoverable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in desktop support and troubleshooting environments.
  • Proficiency with Windows, macOS, and other desktop operating systems required.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, configurations, and security measures.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering optimal user support.
  • Effective communication abilities to clearly present technical information to users.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under minimal supervision.
