Job Description

As a Credit Controller, you will play a pivotal role in managing and maintaining the credit accounts of a business. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee all aspects of credit management, including the establishment of credit terms, monitoring of credit limits, collection of outstanding payments, and maintaining strong relationships with clients. You will be tasked with analyzing and assessing credit applications to ensure creditworthiness, as well as managing the risk associated with providing credit. Your proactive approach in resolving any credit issues will be essential in minimizing potential losses and maintaining the company's financial health. A successful Credit Controller will have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication abilities to facilitate effective credit management processes.


Responsibilities

  • Review and approve all new credit applications to determine creditworthiness.
  • Maintain and update records of credit limits and terms for each client account.
  • Monitor aged debt and follow up on overdue invoices with clients promptly.
  • Communicate with clients regarding outstanding debts and collection processes.
  • Collaborate with sales and accounts teams to resolve outstanding credit issues.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on the status of client credit accounts.
  • Negotiate repayment plans with clients experiencing financial difficulties.
  • Identify overdue accounts and escalate to management when necessary for resolution.
  • Conduct credit checks on potential new clients to assess payment risk.
  • Implement and manage policies and procedures for the reduction of credit risks.
  • Assist in developing strategies for improving cash flow and reducing debt.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes affecting credit management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in a credit control or accounts receivable role.
  • Strong understanding of credit procedures, guidelines, and risk management.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on negotiation and resolution.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data effectively.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Ability to work under pressure and independently manage multiple priorities.
