Job Description

A Commis (Arabic) is an entry-level position in the culinary world that plays a pivotal role in the kitchen, working under the supervision of chefs to learn and hone their skills. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily preparation and production of Arabic dishes and meals.
  • Follow recipes accurately to maintain consistency in Arabic cuisine dishes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and storage areas.
  • Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and cutting as needed.
  • Collaborate with chefs to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
  • Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards at all times in the kitchen.
  • Assist in inventory control by monitoring stock levels and notifying chefs.
  • Conduct preliminary preparation to ensure the readiness of cooking stations.
  • Learn various cooking techniques specific to traditional and modern Arabic cuisine.
  • Support the head chef and kitchen team in daily operational tasks and duties.
  • Engage in professional development through feedback and constructive criticism.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on kitchen operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification in culinary arts or hospitality.
  • Previous experience in a kitchen setting is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Passion for Arabic cuisine and eagerness to learn culinary techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking methods is advantageous.
  • Strong ability to work under pressure and maintain composure in busy environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
