Job Description

The Business Development Manager – Freight & Logistics plays a key role in the growth and expansion of the company’s market presence within the logistics sector. This role involves strategically identifying new business opportunities, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring the delivery of effective logistics solutions to clients. The individual is expected to stay abreast of industry trends, competitive dynamics, and innovation in freight logistics to drive sales and business development initiatives. A successful candidate will be proactive and adaptable, possessing a deep understanding of the logistics environment, its challenges, and its opportunities. The role requires excellent communication skills, strategic thinking, and a results-driven mindset to achieve sales targets and business objectives.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement business development strategies to drive growth in freight and logistics.
  • Identify potential clients, build relationships, and initiate discussions to create new business opportunities.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure delivery of tailored logistical solutions to meet client needs.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activity to inform strategic decision-making and planning.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to potential clients, showcasing our logistics capabilities and solutions.
  • Negotiate and close deals with new clients, ensuring favorable terms and ongoing partnerships.
  • Ensure client satisfaction by maintaining consistent communication and addressing any service issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to streamline supply chain processes and improve service delivery.
  • Assist in the development of proposals and tenders, ensuring accuracy and alignment with client requirements.
  • Track and report on sales performance and key performance indicators to senior management.
  • Attend industry events and networking opportunities to expand professional networks and identify potential leads.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development within the freight and logistics industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic partnerships and close large-scale deals.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience handling complex contractual arrangements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients and stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and driving revenue growth.
  • Proficiency with CRM software and other sales management tools is preferred.
