Job Description

As an Automotive Service Advisor, you play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of a vehicle service department. You are the primary point of contact for customers seeking to maintain or repair their vehicles and are responsible for providing exceptional customer service. These professionals offer expert advice on necessary vehicle services and repairs based on the technical evaluations performed by mechanics and technicians. Being detail-oriented and possessing excellent communication skills, you must accurately assess customer needs and translate them into actionable service requests. Working with mechanics, parts suppliers, and customers, you will facilitate smooth communication ensuring a seamless and highly satisfactory service experience. Your role also encompasses managing service schedules, preparing cost estimates, and maintaining detailed records of services rendered.


Responsibilities

  • Greet customers promptly while demonstrating a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Accurately document automotive service and repair requirements for each customer.
  • Effectively communicate repair needs and costs to customers for informed decision-making.
  • Coordinate with technicians to ensure timely completion of vehicle service and repairs.
  • Provide expert advice on routine vehicle maintenance and necessary service intervals.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of customer details and service history to ensure efficiency.
  • Monitor repair progress and keep customers updated until service completion.
  • Check for recalls and notify customers of any important vehicle safety updates.
  • Ensure the timely ordering and receipt of automotive parts from suppliers.
  • Handle customer complaints effectively, ensuring resolutions are achieved swiftly.
  • Assist in developing promotional offers that attract and retain a loyal customer base.
  • Coordinate with finance to process customer payments and handle billing queries efficiently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Previous experience as an automotive service advisor or related role preferred.
  • Strong understanding of automotive technology and mechanical systems.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on building customer relationships.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities are essential.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced service environment.
  • Proficiency in using automotive service management software systems.
