Job Description

An AutoCad Technical Designer plays a crucial role in translating concepts and ideas into detailed technical drawings and plans. These professionals are responsible for creating and modifying AutoCAD drawings and keeping them accurate, up-to-date, and valid for use in construction, manufacturing, or various design projects. They work closely with engineers, architects, and other professionals to understand the requirements and constraints of projects. This position requires a blend of technical skills, creativity, and precision. As an AutoCad Technical Designer, you will be responsible for producing layouts, assemblies, and component details from sketches and ideas, ensuring all specifications are meticulously maintained according to industry standards and project needs. You will also be responsible for ensuring that all designs comply with environmental regulations and safety standards, and that accurate records are kept of all design documents. The role not only requires proficiency in AutoCAD but also entails strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tackling design challenges.


Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed designs and drawings using AutoCAD software for various projects.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to determine project specifications effectively.
  • Update and maintain AutoCAD files, ensuring all drawings meet the required standards.
  • Analyze sketches, notes, and other input materials to create accurate templates and blueprints.
  • Ensure that the design output aligns with regulatory standards and company policies.
  • Modify existing designs and detailed drawings based on project requirements and client feedback.
  • Create technical diagrams and charts to accompany design documentation, as needed.
  • Conduct site visits to gather information necessary for design accuracy and feasibility.
  • Manage a database of design files and ensure consistent file management practices are followed.
  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and feasibility studies for project planning.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss design progress and changes in specifications.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior design staff or apprentices, if applicable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Proven experience as an AutoCad Technical Designer or similar role in the industry.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD software and other related computer-assisted design programs.
  • Strong understanding of architectural, mechanical, and engineering design principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in a design context.
  • Ability to interpret complex instructions and translate them into actionable plans.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in creating and reviewing design documents.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines efficiently.
