Job Description

A Database Administrator (DBA) is a highly skilled and integral part of any organization that relies on data storage and management systems. They are responsible for managing, backing up, securing, and maintaining the vast and intricate databases required to keep operations running smoothly. As a DBA, you will play a critical role in ensuring the availability and reliability of enterprise databases, optimizing database performance, and facilitating data recovery solutions. You will work closely with IT professionals, application developers, and other stakeholders to ensure that the organization’s data architecture supports its business objectives efficiently. In this position, you’ll be expected to troubleshoot complex database issues, implement strategic improvements, and maintain comprehensive documentation of database procedures.


Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain enterprise database management systems software for reliability.
  • Develop and implement procedures for database backup, recovery, and security management.
  • Conduct performance tuning of database systems for optimal performance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design database schemas and structures.
  • Set up and maintain database user accounts, ensuring proper access levels and security protocols.
  • Monitor database systems for performance issues and implement corrective measures as necessary.
  • Conduct regular audits of database systems to ensure data integrity and security compliance.
  • Document database procedures, policies, and standards for reporting and auditing purposes.
  • Ensure timely data storage and retrieval strategies meet organizational requirements.
  • Coordinate with IT and support teams to manage database system upgrades and patches.
  • Conduct data migration and transformation during upgrades and after system integrations.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for database-related issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator or related role for at least three years.
  • Deep understanding of database management systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, or MongoDB.
  • Experience with data backup, recovery, security, and integrity maintenance practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with IT and business teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
