Job Description

As an Auto Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and functionality of various vehicles. Your primary responsibility will be to diagnose, repair, and maintain automobiles, delivering high-quality workmanship while providing excellent customer service. Working closely with a team of professionals, you will assess mechanical issues and resolve them efficiently, contributing to the success and reputation of the automotive service department. This role requires problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and the ability to communicate findings and recommendations to customers effectively. An Auto Mechanic must stay up to date with the latest automotive technology and maintain a clean and organized work area.


Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests using manual tools and computerized diagnostic equipment.
  • Identify mechanical problems, often by using computerized diagnostic equipment.
  • Test parts and systems to ensure proper function following repairs.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on both gas and diesel-powered vehicles.
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards at all times.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with customers about vehicle issues and repairs.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and clear records of all work completed on each vehicle.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry techniques and technologies in auto repair.
  • Inspect vehicle mechanical components and systems to identify issues accurately.
  • Give accurate estimates of the time and cost needed for repairs.
  • Work flexibly as part of a team to achieve company goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an auto mechanic and solid understanding of automotive components.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude with attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle various tools and heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
  • ASE certification or other equivalent certifications are highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with customers and team members.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational or technical program is a plus.
