Job Description

An Air Freight Coordinator plays a vital role in managing and coordinating air freight operations to ensure efficient and timely movement of goods via air transportation. This position requires a highly organized individual who can oversee all aspects of the shipping process, including planning, scheduling, and tracking shipments, while maintaining strong relationships with carriers, clients, and customs officials. The Air Freight Coordinator must have exceptional communication and problem-solving skills to handle any issues that may arise during transit. They are responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and standards, thereby minimizing delays and maximizing customer satisfaction. This role is critical in maintaining the smooth operation of the supply chain and ensuring that products reach their destinations safely and on time.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor air freight shipments to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Communicate with airlines and freight carriers to arrange transportation services.
  • Prepare and ensure accuracy of shipping documentation and freight invoices.
  • Track and manage shipment status, updating customers on progress and any delays.
  • Resolve any issues that arise during transit, including handling carrier disputes.
  • Liaise with clients to understand their shipping needs and provide suitable solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international freight regulations and standards.
  • Conduct regular reviews of processes to identify and implement improvements.
  • Maintain and update shipment records and database for all air freight activities.
  • Collaborate with customs officials to expedite clearance of shipments.
  • Manage costs by negotiating rates with carriers and analyzing pricing structures.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth flow of operations and information.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in air freight coordination or a similar logistics role.
  • Strong understanding of air freight operations, procedures, and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with clients and logistics partners.
  • Problem-solving abilities to address and resolve shipment-related issues swiftly.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • A Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines effectively.
  • Familiarity with customs compliance and documentation requirements is a plus.
  • Fluency in additional languages is desirable but not mandatory for this role.
