Job Description

As a barista, you will be an integral part of the customer experience at our café. Your primary responsibility will be to prepare and serve high-quality coffee and other beverages to customers promptly and with a friendly demeanor. You will also engage with customers to ensure they have a pleasant and customized experience, recommending drinks based on their preferences, and answering any questions they may have about the menu. A barista must balance artistry and efficiency to deliver beautifully prepared brews while maintaining our café's standards for service and cleanliness. You’ll have opportunities to enhance your skill set through ongoing training in coffee techniques and customer service, making this role a blend of creativity, precision, and people skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve coffee and tea drinks consistency and adherence to recipes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workstation, equipment, and café area.
  • Provide excellent customer service by welcoming and interacting with guests.
  • Educate customers about our coffee, products, and specials available each day.
  • Take orders accurately using the point-of-sale system with attention to detail.
  • Maintain inventory by restocking necessary supplies and informing management of shortages.
  • Handle cash, credit, and debit card payments responsibly, ensuring accuracy and security.
  • Operate equipment such as espresso machines and grinders safely and efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and perform routine maintenance as necessary.
  • Contribute to a pleasant team environment by offering assistance to coworkers when needed.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and workshops to continuously improve skills.
  • Adhere to food safety regulations and health standards, complying with operational policies.

Requirements

  • Prior experience as a barista or in a customer service role is advantageous.
  • Ability to operate coffee equipment, including espresso machines and grinders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service consistently and courteously.
  • Basic math skills needed to handle transactions and operate the point-of-sale system.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
