Job Description

As a pivotal part of our construction team, the HSE Engineer (Buildings) will be responsible for implementing and overseeing health, safety, and environmental protocols at building sites. This professional will ensure that construction projects are conducted in a safe and compliant manner, enhancing the well-being of all employees and the surrounding community. This role demands vigilant attention to detail, expert knowledge in health and safety regulations, and a proactive approach to risk management. The ideal candidate will work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and regulatory bodies to foresee potential issues, develop comprehensive safety plans, and cultivate an environment where safety is valued universally. The HSE Engineer will be instrumental in reducing the risk of accidents, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of safety through training and influence.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety management systems for building sites.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to detect potential hazards or unsafe practices.
  • Collaborate with project managers to integrate HSE considerations into building plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Deliver effective training sessions to promote health and safety awareness.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to identify root causes and preventive measures.
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation for regulatory or safety audits.
  • Report on the status of safety programs and outcomes to senior management.
  • Recommend and implement improvements in safety policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate emergency response exercises and maintain emergency preparedness plans.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure timely submission of required reports.
  • Monitor and evaluate workplace health, safety, and environmental performance.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in HSE roles within the construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to buildings.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to educate and influence teams.
  • Proficient in analyzing safety data and compiling detailed reports for stakeholders.
  • Certification in recognized HSE qualifications such as NEBOSH or OSHA preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to manage safety issues effectively.
