Job Description

A Radiographer, also known as a Radiologic Technologist, plays a critical role in the healthcare system by using advanced imaging equipment to capture images of the human body for diagnostic purposes. These images are crucial for physicians to diagnose injuries or diseases accurately. Radiographers must possess an in-depth understanding of imaging procedures, as well as strong attention to detail to ensure patient safety and high-quality imaging outcomes. They often work in hospitals, clinics, or diagnostic imaging centers, collaborating closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals. Their job requires them to be compassionate and sensitive, as they often work with patients who are in pain or experiencing distress. Responsibilities

  • Operate diagnostic imaging equipment effectively, including X-ray machines and CT scanners.
  • Position patients accurately to ensure optimal image capture while maintaining comfort.
  • Follow established protocols for patient safety and radiation exposure standards.
  • Collaborate with radiologists to evaluate images and determine if additional imaging is necessary.
  • Maintain patient records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain imaging equipment, ensuring it is clean and in proper working order.
  • Assist patients who may have mobility issues or require additional support during imaging.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures and addressing any concerns.
  • Follow infection control and patient safety protocols to maintain a sterile environment.
  • Perform quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of diagnostic images.
  • Stay updated on advancements and changes in imaging technology and healthcare practices.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to radiography students or new staff when required.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, imaging equipment, and radiographic techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Compassionate demeanor and ability to provide personalized patient care.
