A Quantity Surveyor plays a crucial role in the construction and civil engineering sectors. This professional is responsible for managing and overseeing all costs related to building and facilities projects. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze project costings for tenders and contracts.
  • Coordinate with site managers, clients, and subcontractors on financial matters.
  • Negotiate contracts and work schedules with contractors and subcontractors.
  • Provide accurate forecasts for project costs and monitor financial progress.
  • Advise on potential financial risks and their mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements regarding building projects.
  • Prepare tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities, and other documentation.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress and assess the work completed to date.
  • Determine costs and advice on value engineering to improve project efficiency.
  • Maintain awareness of the different building contracts in current use.
  • Ensure projects are completed within the financial limit and on schedule.
  • Keep abreast of developments and changes in the local construction market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in working with financial data.
  • Excellent negotiation, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of construction processes and procurement systems.
  • Familiarity with construction software and project management tools.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure with multiple priorities.
