The Department of Family Medicine is seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Research Specialist to support the department’s diverse research activities in primary care. The role involves assisting with study design, data collection and analysis, laboratory operations, and coordination of clinical and community-based research across a wide range of topics relevant to family medicine, including chronic disease management, preventive care, mental health, elderly care, health services research, and public health interventions.
Assist in the development, implementation, and management of research projects across core areas of Family Medicine, such as chronic disease prevention, multimorbidity, behavioral health, health literacy, digital health, and quality improvement.
Contribute to both quantitative (e.g., cohort studies, clinical trials) and qualitative (e.g., focus groups, interviews) research methods.
Support ethics applications, participant recruitment, data collection, and documentation.
Prepare literature reviews, draft manuscripts, abstracts, and materials for conferences or publications.
Collaborate with faculty, clinicians, and external partners on interdisciplinary research initiatives.
Manage data entry, cleaning, and statistical analysis using tools such as SPSS, R, or Python.
Contribute to advanced modeling and evaluation of health interventions where applicable.
Develop charts, summaries, and visualizations to support research dissemination.
Support basic laboratory procedures and ensure proper handling of biological samples when required.
Assist in the preparation of reagents and implementation of tests such as ELISA under appropriate biosafety standards.
Oversee procurement and liaise with vendors for research equipment and consumables.
Manage logistics for storage, transport, and tracking of research samples, including coordination with external labs.
Minimum Qualification
MD with research skills or PhD in Public Health, Biomedical Sciences, or a related health discipline.
Demonstrated experience in academic, clinical, or health services research.

Expected Skills
Strong foundation in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.

Competence in basic and advanced laboratory procedures, including ELISA, sample processing, and reagent preparation.
Comfort working in clinical research settings
Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
High level of attention to detail, research integrity, and ability to work independently and in teams.
Adaptability to work across clinical, academic, and field research environments.
