As an IT/OT Cybersecurity Engineer for Industrial Control Systems (ICSS), you will play a critical role in securing industrial automation environments, with a strong focus on Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD), and overall Industrial Control Systems (ICSS). This role involves designing, engineering, implementing, configuration, texting, and maintaining robust cybersecurity architectures and controls across operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) domains.

The IT/OT Cybersecurity Engineer for Industrial Control Systems (ICSS) shall be responsible for:

  • Design secure industrial network architectures in line with cybersecurity standards (e.g., IEC 62443, NIST).
  • Integrate cybersecurity controls into DCS, ESD, and ICSS environments to enhance system safety and resilience.
  • Configure, commission, and troubleshoot industrial network devices and protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC, PROFINET).
  • Implement and maintain OT-specific cybersecurity solutions, including firewalls, IDS, and endpoint protection.
  • Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability analyses, and ensure compliance with relevant cybersecurity regulations.
  • Develop and maintain cybersecurity policies, procedures, and incident response plans for OT systems.
  • Lead and support cybersecurity projects through all phases, including FAT, SAT, and commissioning.
  • Provide input during bid reviews and recommend secure, cost-effective solutions.
  • Prepare technical documentation such as network diagrams, configurations, and test reports.
  • Conduct site visits, deliver cybersecurity training, and provide expert consultation to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to embed cybersecurity into project lifecycles.
  • Monitor OT cybersecurity posture, identify threats, and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Stay current with evolving cybersecurity technologies, threats, and best practices in industrial environments.

Skills & Competencies:

  • 5+ years of experience in OT cybersecurity and Industrial Control Systems (ICS).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Shell DEPs, oil & gas industry practices, and international standards.
  • Experience in water, wastewater, petrochemical, and oil & gas sectors.
  • Knowledge of industrial control system forensics and incident response.
  • Familiarity with DCS, ESD, SCADA, and PLC systems.
  • Experience working with Siemens or similar industrial automation platforms.
  • Understanding of IT/OT integration challenges and practical solutions.
  • Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting L2/L3 network infrastructure and firewalls.
  • Experience with network-based Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS).
  • Skilled in implementing endpoint protection and system backup strategies.
  • Proficient in scripting languages including Python, PowerShell, and Bash.
  • Capable of configuring and deploying Domain Controllers and RADIUS servers.
  • Experience with VxRail clusters, SIEM platforms, and one-way data diode technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with vulnerability scanning and penetration testing tools.

Your Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Electrical, Control, or Computer-related field.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts, tools, and techniques.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Relevant certifications (CCNA, CISA, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, etc.) are mandatory; additional certifications are a plus.
  • Valid UAE driving license.
