The Role

Wood is currently recruiting for a Document Controller to join our team in Abu Dhabi. This office-based role offers an excellent opportunity to work on diverse and challenging projects within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business, supporting engineering and project teams by managing documentation workflows and ensuring compliance with project standards.

Key Objectives for This Role

  • Manage and control project documentation workflows, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and compliance with project standards
  • Maintain document registers, version control, and distribution logs
  • Support engineering and project teams by ensuring timely access to updated documents
  • Demonstrate awareness of company policies and procedures related to document control
  • Maintain a high level of computer literacy and familiarity with document management systems and relevant software tools

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities – Document Controller

  • Manage and maintain project documentation in accordance with company standards and client requirements.
  • Ensure accurate control of incoming and outgoing documents, including version control, distribution, and archiving.
  • Support engineering and project teams by ensuring timely access to updated and approved documentation.
  • Demonstrate understanding of document control procedures and their application in a project environment.
  • Maintain document registers and logs, ensuring traceability and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare clear and concise written communications and reports related to document status and control.
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures that impact document management activities.
  • Maintain a good level of computer literacy and familiarity with document management systems and relevant software tools.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and aligned with project milestones.
  • Assist in audits and reviews by providing required documentation and ensuring readiness of records.

Expected

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Business Administration, Engineering, AI / Data science or Information Management).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining documentation accuracy and integrity.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities, with a proactive and collaborative approach.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with document control systems and software (e.g., SharePoint, EDMS, Aconex).
  • Understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to documentation.
  • Prior experience in document control within engineering, construction, or oil & gas projects (preferred).
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within a structured and professional environment.
