Job Purpose

Assist Senior engineer operations Support in preparation of replies and follow up of action items in environmental audit, inspection, investigation and testing activities at various operations to cover such issues as airborne contaminants measurement, physical agents testing, (noise,) air quality, effluent quality, handling and management of toxic and hazardous waste, etc., with a view to ensure that environment is maintained at the optimum level of safety , health and environmental standards.

Key Accountabilities

  • Report undesirable conditions and implications thereof together with recommendations for improvement in order to achieve departmental Policy objectives on Environmental Protection. Coordinate environmental management system (IS0-14001 Standard) implementation activities at site
  • Monitor Connected Worker Effectiveness and facilitate smooth functioning of the plant monitoring system.
  • Facilitate in timely completion of Departmental objectives formulation, follow up progress of the objectives completion and assist in annual evaluation of compliance.
  • On daily basis assists in monitoring of plant discharges (flaring, emissions and liquid effluents to environment and report to management with reasons for any deviation and improvement.
  • Does calculations for quantification of flaring & emissions.
  • Provide the data generated for daily, monthly, and annual environmental reports.
  • Assists in conducting environmental ambient air quality monitoring and emission source testing to determine major sources of airborne contaminants
  • Assists in environmental sampling and monitoring instruments for the environmental protection and management and trains field staff on all environment protection and management issues.
  • Assists in Sustainability report preparation.
  • Advises Coordinators Production operation on waste disposal, assists in preparation of annual waste projection .
  • Advises on effluent treatment and sampling and analysis of effluent.
  • Review operational processes and Plant performance in key areas to ensures adequate technical support to Operations Division to resolve problems and maintain high plant reliability.
  • Participates in integrity reviews, HAZOP studies, HSE reviews, studies and assessments.
  • Reviews and guides Plant trip analysis, incident investigations and associated reports .
  • Prepares daily flaring profile and proposals for remedial actions to ensure minimum flaring
  • Review, discusses and advises TLOS on packages, new project schedule and expenditure phasing.
  • Identify plant improvement opportunities and facilitate the modification to improve the cost, availability and reliability of plant
  • Plant performance analysis and failure investigations in key areas to ensure support to shift Operations to resolve problems and maintain high plant reliability
  • Perform as subject matter Expert in GAP analysis panels for evaluating personnel for promotion.
  • Assist shift teams during emergencies as per Emergency Response Procedure in safe isolation and restoration of normalcy.
  • Assist shift operation crews in the application of the ADNOC GAS HSEMS system and processes under his ownership. Promote HSE awareness among his team and maintain good safety standards during work activities by other departments
  • Ensure compliance to all management tools like AIPS HSECES, RCM, DGS, MOC etc., (ensure all supporting documents required are provided and follow-up on short comings).
  • Ensure effective functioning of Connected worker System, review and initiate appropriate actions based on the field monitoring results.
  • Participate in the performance appraisal of personnel, conducting technical interviews, preparing and maintaining a detailed shift log
  • Monitor Cardex compliances within the department and identify areas of improvement.
  • Take action to INTERVENE and STOP any un-safe activity or non-compliance with HSE requirements, if witnessed, and report the incident – regardless of your position or that of the transgressor

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor Degree in Chemical/Petrochemical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5 years of experience in the oil refining or gas/ petrochemical industry at least 3 years in a Senior Supervisory capacity with DCS Control System experience
  • Thorough knowledge of the Standing Instructions and Operating procedures pertaining to the assigned Area
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills with proven analytical ability
  • Good coordination skills
  • Good IT Skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English

Professional Certifications Preferred

  • HAZOP certification
  • RCA certification
  • Certification in Decision making skills, Risk analysis,
